JOHNNY WHITE
 |
My name is Johnny Lee White III. On June 2nd, 1994 I got in a car accident. My accident caused me to have limited use with my hands. Neighborhood Center of the Arts, NCA, has helped me with my hand and eye coordination through projects such as weaving, painting, drawing and woodworking. At NCA I have made lots of friends. I like to be a working artist here. I have learned many things about art and I enjoy doing it because it has helped me heal from my injury. It is important to me to earn the money I make through the sale of my art. Because of my accident I can't get a job in the community. The people here at NCA look after me, so if I have a seizure they protect me. I also enjoy this place because it is a job. This place has taught me so much about friendship. Because of the people I meet here, I have learned to love people that are injured like me or have different abilities. I feel more people need to learn to love people like us. I didn't realize how special these people could be. I encourage you to come visit us and see how loving and creative we all are! And remember how important NCA is because this is our place of work.
