HELEN POWELL
Helen has been involved with NCA since 1984, and was previously involved in art classes at the Nevada County Community Workshop. Helen’s career as an exhibiting artist began with an exhibition at Sierra College in Rocklin in 1977. Helen’s unique style is often characterized by colored backgrounds supporting bold figures and floating shapes. Helen is also an accomplished fiber artist and weaver. The majority of Helen’s fiber works are woven in reds. Helen reports it "looka likea blood." Helen appears to be inspired by the things she fancies such as bees, horse flies that bite and draw blood, babies and pregnant women, big ball beads, and balloons. Helen also enjoys horror movies and surgery programs. Helen's laughter and enjoyment of peculiar objects add to her wonderful unique personality.
